Rosedale Museum Park

This empty nester modern house is located in a transitional urban area in Houston’s inner loop.  Desiring to be connected to cultural actives yet downsize at the same time the couple sought a new direction with this home, with minimal spaces and a light, bright modern feeling.  Aging in place was a client objective achieved with features such a home elevator, and thoughtful kitchen design to incorporate access and clearances in the kitchen.  The hardware and faucetry in the home also provide universal design and aging in place features.  The clients also desired the ability to lock and leave when traveling as well as low maintenance solutions.

This was achieved through careful selection of finishes such as laser edge laminate cabinetry, quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances which are low maintenance and easy to clean.  The kitchen forms the centerpiece of the clients lifestyle as well as the home, as entertaining was a top priority.  The design challenge that resulted for this home was the ability to host family gatherings of all sizes and scales.  Appliances such as the warming drawer and wine refrigerator were selected to add additional functionality to those events.  The steam oven was incorporated for everyday ease and to promote a healthy lifestyle, as well as serving as an additional oven for entertaining.

The 20 minute cycle on dishwasher also helped solve the challenges of clean up after such gatherings.  The aesthetics of the stainless steel finishes integrated beautifully with the modern kitchen in this urban empty nester modern home.  The third floor terrace provides an amazing view carefully aligned to downtown and a light bright modern room for entertaining.
