Someday this room in the home of Rame and Russell Hruska will be a library, but for now their sons claim it as their playroom. Their toys are stored in the gray cabinet that also serves as a room divider.

From elegant living rooms to spa-like bathrooms or kitchens so gorgeous you almost hate to get them dirty, Houston's most stylish homes are a collection of rooms that are thoughtfully planned and artfully executed.

Exteriors matter, of course -- that gorgeous curb appeal is what tells us we're finally home when we pull in the driveway. But inside is where we do most of our living, and who doesn't want to live well?

We want our homes to be beautiful, but they also need to be comfortable and functional. So you can install lovely stone or elegant wood floors, and top them with show-stopping rugs. Upholstered sofas and chairs don't have to match, but should be coordinated in style and/or color and have fabric that can stand up to your family's needs.

Art tops it all off, and increasingly we're getting into original art, much of it by local or regional artists.

There's no single description for what makes a home elegant or stylish, but instead the end result of our overall effort. The owners of these homes have collected pieces and ideas throughout their lives, so that each room and each home tells the story of each chapter of our lives.

So here's a peek at some of houston’s most stylish homes.
